…Lotus Dance Studio is opening its arms to embrace new dance company members and expand their Tribal Style Presence in South Florida and beyond.

This is a unique opportunity to become a member of Shambhala Tribal its siste troupe Lotus Magika. We are a Tribal Style Belly Dance Company based in South East Florida directed by Alina Yllanes, Lotus Dance Studio, Adhara Hernandez, Assistant Director to Lotus Shambhala and Lotus Magika.

Lotus Dance Studio is one of the pioneers of Tribal Style Bellydance in South Florida, having collaborated with many amazing Tribal Artists and performers, such as Frédérique, Donna Mejia, Alicia of BellyCraft, Daniela, Lacy, recently Carmine Guida of the band Djinn and Belly Dance Superstars such as Ansuya, Bozenka, Tamalyn Dallal, , and many more.

In the three short years that Lotus Dance Studio has been opened, Lotus has brought their collaborative years of experience in instruction and performance to build a strong and steady Tribal Community in South Florida, producing numerous events throughout the year while collaborating with other progressive Belly Dance Academies in their theatrical events. Lotus Dance Studio is the face of Tribal Style in South Florida and where many instructors from come to polish their Tribal Skills. Audition Specifics:
The audition is open to versatile, strong, professional, advanced and intermediate level belly dancers of any belly dance discipline, who are ready to commit themselves to steadfast hard work. Active belly dancers of any discipline who are open and ready to push themselves technically and artistically into new directions are encouraged to audition for our dance company.

Arrive up to 30 minutes early, in full stage costume, hair and make-up
A short (3-3:30 minutes) solo will be required for finalists. Special skills a plus
A resume, headshot and body shot are recommended but not required
Video clip on a CD or YouTube address are pluses as well

Requisites to audition are:
• Must be at least 16 years of age (must be 18 years old for Shambhala)
• Must have at least TWO years of consistent formal training in belly dance –experience in other dance styles and performance art are pluses
• Must be talented
• Must be comfortable with performing in front of small & large audiences
• Must be physically fit, and this does not mean you must be thin
• Must be a resident of South Florida, where the company is located
• Must be willing and able to attend the minimum required classes
• Must be proficient in playing finger cymbals while dancing
• Must be willing and able to attend all scheduled classes and rehearsals
• Must be willing and able to purchase required costuming
• Must be willing and able to supply their own shoes/footwear, makeup, hair accessories & jewelry
• Must be willing and able to hand sew personal costuming (machine sewing skills a plus!)
• Must be consistently punctual
• Must have great communication with the director, assistant director and other assigned assistants

• Must be able to get along with all troupe members
• Must be open to direction and constructive criticism

• Must be 100% Drama FREE

Please note that several of the above requisites are not fixed but variable dependant on overall performance.

Company members must be available to commit to performing throughout south Florida on the weekends and attend weekly rehearsals in Pembroke Pines at Lotus Dance Studio. Please note that additional personal practice, classes and workshops may be required. Technique is learned and drilled in classes, not at rehearsals. Company members must maintain an updated Calendar shared with the director.

Company Belly Dance Requirements: Must attend a minimum of two Tribal Style Belly Dance Classes with Alina or other as advised by Alina.

Weekly Class & Rehearsal Schedule: Mondays 8:30 PM and Saturdays 12:30PM rehearsals immediately after each class.

Lotus Shambhala is a “No Drama” dance company. We save it for stage where it belongs. What to expect the day of:
Phase 1: Registration
Fill out a sheet with your name, address & contact information (attach resume & photos). Photos are taken of each audition participant.

Phase 2: Preliminaries
A short, group choreography will be taught by Alina and Adhara. Be ready to belly dance solo, improv, partnering, floor work, veil & finger cymbals.

Phase 3: Finals
A member of the adjudication panel will call back individual dancers from the preliminaries that they liked. Each finalist must then present a prepared solo performance (3-3:30 minutes).

Phase 4: Thank you – finalists will be contacted within 7 days of the audition
