Workshop Descriptions:

Nandana – American Tribal Style moves and combinations for the adventurous dancer!

American Tribal Style (ATS) is known for its captivating and awe-inspiring group improvisation. Using body language to help “talk” to their partners & create seamless transitions, ATS dancers use a variety of moves and combinations to create a powerful, entertaining, and fun dance form. This workshop will focus on breaking down some of these moves and combinations, as well as the cues that go along with them. We will then explore some options for using them with a partner, in addition to a group. All of these moves can be used for solo dance, group improvisation, or choreographies. This workshop is good for any level and style of dancer.

In this workshop you’ll learn the proper Egyptian Hagallah and Shimmy Variations. After a short warm up we will break down the technique of the Hagallah, drill shimmy variations to create new combinations of this traditional move. These combos can be used in all of your performances. We will then pack them into fun combinations that are guaranteed to spice up your performances, whether improvised or choreographed.
