INTRODUCTION TO ZILLS
This workshop is a great way to begin developing technical proficiency with zills.
No prior experience is necessary.
Learn basic rhythms and zill patterns. We will introduce a new “zills choreography”. After practicing at class, a comprehensive handout will be provided for you to take home, along with a free CD, so you can keep practicing!
HOW TO DANCE WITH YOUR ZILLS
We will add movement combinations; hip-work, footwork and gestures. A starting point in bringing your zills and dancing into harmony.
Class size will be limited. Bring your own zills!

Join Aubre in this weekend intensive designed for intermediate and advanced dancers interested in pushing their dance into the practice of art. Focus & presence, addressing stage fright & fears, theatre conventions, effort & space, emotional & theatrical exercises, developing choreography, and how to improv. We will also be learning a full choreography (one Raqs Sharqi & one fusion that dancers can choose from) as well as developing solos of each dancer’s choice. These will be presented in a full show Sunday evening. This experience is created to intensively focus on performing in a way you cannot do within regular classes. Be ready to sweaty, cry, laugh, and transform your dancing!

“Golden Era of Oriental Dance” Learn the subtle nuances and music interpretation for dancing the classic styles from the 1920-1970’s. There were actually more than one “Golden Age” of dance, and we will pull from the various incarnations…..Technique/interpretation through combinations will be taught, along with some defining elements of what truly is the backbone of this dance.

“Passionate Tabla Solo”:
Aradia will lead drills on the various types or shimmies used in Oriental and Folkloric dance. A drum solo Choreography taught in combination form will be taught using a variety of shimmies, layers, pops and locks. Learn tips to working with a live drummer.

“Luxurious Lebanese Style Choreography”
Learn the exquisite layered moves, elegant traveling steps, and saucy combinations that make Lebanese belly dance, the “ballroom dance” of the Middle East. Nobody does it with grace and flair like the stars of Lebanon!!

Back to school and to the Sunday Dancer trainings in typical Egyptian Style with Nuriyya, Master Teacher and ISOC in Cairo Teacher Trainer. This Sunday we have as theme the different dancers and their dance styles from the Golden Age of the Egyptian Cinema and Musical comedies, like Samia Gamal, Tahia Karioka and Naima Akeef. Fascinated since more then 20 years about these dancers and their typical dance styles, Nuriyya, as movement specialist and caoch, analysed their movements and break them down to give to dancers an new input with classical Egyptian style into the own dance.
The workshop is open for all dancers from good beginner level ( 1 year of dance or more), who like to deepen and widen their knowledge and like to gain new experience and to go ahead in Oriental Dance, Egyptian style.
