Discover the “secrets” to a stellar performance, learn drills and techniques to enhance your creativity and to improve the overall look of your dance. Whether improvised or choreographed – give a star performance every time. Musical interpretation will be discussed. Bring an old veil you don’t mind getting sweaty – this is NOT a veil class.

The Queens of the Universe are planning their student show/hafla on Saturday, June 25th at 2 PM in the afternoon. Last year this was a great success … it allowed a safe and supportive environment for new and experienced belly dance students to showcase their ever expanding dance abilities. We are hoping to exceed ourselves this year!!
We hope that you have been preparing to perform at this event. We will be in the Colonial Heights Community Center again this year. As you know, the space is not large. I suggest that if you are doing group numbers that you only put 5 – 6 dancers on the stage at one time. If you have more than this many dancing, please feel free to do 2 or more sets … just let me know!!
Teachers are not allowed to do solos this year but may perform with their students.
Student soloist, duets, trios are welcomed and encouraged !!!

Fire Props Technique 2:00 – 3:15
This workshop is appropriate for any dancer interested in incorporating fire props into his or her performance. Technique in fire fans, staff, and palm torches/candles will be covered. Props will not be used lit. Limited fire props will be available for workshop use, but please bring your own props if you …have them.
Intermediate – Advanced Sword Technique 3:30 – 4:45
This workshop is appropriate for dancers with basic sword skills as it is intended to take a dancer’s skill level from good to great and beyond! Advanced sword tricks and multiple sword work will be covered in this instruction and coaching session. A variety of swords will be available for workshop use, but please bring your own as well.
Traditional Open Hafla 6:30 – 8:00
Party with dance and music! Performers, bring your music on CD please. Workshop attendees, show off you skills free of charge. General admission $3 at door.
$20 per session before March 1st or both sessions $35 before March 1st. On or after March 1st each session $25 or $45 for both sessions. Special group rate for parties of 5 or more who register for both workshop sessions prior to March 1st. SW Florida’s semi-annual Hafla (party) is happening!
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for complimentary Mediterranean mezza and shopping at the Bazaar! We have our biggest Bazaar yet featuring everything for the Belly Dancer, from jewelry, accessories, bodystockings and costume separates to bargain prices on full costumes from Joharah! Gift certificates will also be available for Belly Dance classes in Cape Coral, Ft Myers or Naples!
At 7 p.m. the show starts, featuring group and solo performances in Cabaret, Tribal and Fusion Belly Dance styles; plus a Hawaiian Hula showcase! Dancers from throughout SW Florida as well as special out-of-town guests will perform!
