The Awareness Center of Costa Rica only one hour from San Isidro del General and 15 mn from the exciting beach town of Dominical on the southern Pacific Shore.

An intimate retreat (limited to 8 participants!) for intensive personal dance work; and exploring spiritual, sensual, and mystical sides of Belly Dance. All Belly Dance classes are taught by Birnur Siren

Open to Beginners to Advance Dancers. Participation limited to create a more personalized experience in the peaceful atmosphere and the enchanted, mystical natural surroundings.

We will build strong foundational knowledge through an overview of all the aspects of Belly Dance. Workshops will include history, technique, styling, musicality and interpretation, zills, veils, balancing props, and floor work, local performance. Additionally, we will explore the spiritual dimensions of this ancient art form.

We’ll work with a partner support the technique for descending and rising naturally in growing difficult levels combining with slow movements, the zipper, the berber walk and mermaid turn. Pure FCBD style.

I am very happy and proud to be hosting the fabulous Zafirah from Montreal this November!

She will be teaching 2 great workshops, one on voi (veil + poi, one of her absolute specialties, she’s won many award with her voi dancing!) and one called ‘ABI:(Anti Blocage in Improvisation), a workshop filled to the brim with tips and tricks for helping with improvisation and freestyle dancing for all levels.

VOI: To start with, Zafirah will teach you a few techniques for that amazing prop called Voi (poi-veil) We will learn how to work with it not as an accessory, but truly as a dance partner. After this you will learn a short choreography with the voi.

ABI:(Anti Blocage in Improvisation) Zafirah will share her unique approach to improvisation and bridging the gap between improvisation and choreography. Spice up your improvisations with floor patterns, variations, repetition, body lines and controlling the pace of your performance. A mixture of these combinations is your recipe for a successful performance!
