Learn to put the icing on your belly dance cake with the mamma of modern fusion belly dance! Audiences tend not to notice nice arms and hands, but on the other hand (pun intended), they very much notice stiff or undeveloped arms. In this class, Jill will lead you through a two hour arm/hand clinic class focused on fluidity, finesse, framing. Proper body carriage and posture, using your arms as a means of emotional expression, and tapping into your inner serpent will also be explored.

Caro Dumanni, Caro’s Choreography: Drama and Expression

 
In this workshop Caro will teach a challenging choreography filled with full body integration, long lines, spins, and those little nuanced isolations and finessed details that make for a fully expressive performance. There will be floor work, as well as a few open sections of the choreography open to individual improvisation. Let yourself go with the music & learn to make every performance unique! Please bring comfy clothes, kneepads and water.

Heidi Hillman, Choreographic Concepts: Building Blocks

 
This workshop is perfect for dancers who are new to writing choreography, feeling stuck in writer’s block, or want to try a new creative process. Investigate the liberating idea of using a single dance step, shape, or phrase of music as an inspiration to create a full choreography. Learn to tap into your personal dance vocabulary and make it work for you! Musicality, style and elegant lines of the body will also be explored.

Jill Parker is an international, award winning belly dancer, and founder of the modern tribal fusion belly dance movement. With over two decades of experience, she has trained many of the top dancers in the genre. Jill is an original member of Fat Chance Belly Dance, founder of Ultra Gypsy, and director of the Foxglove Sweethearts. In addition to a rigorous international teaching/performing schedule, she teaches weekly classes in the Bay Area at ODC Commons (SF) and Spring Fall Dance Studio (Berkeley).

About Caro Dumanni (Columbia):

Caro is a mom and a dance addict from Costa Rica, who began dancing at 3 years old. She began with traditional Latin rhythms, then branched out into gymnastics, yoga, modern dance, hip-hop and ballet before discovering Turkish belly dance, which led her to Tribal belly dance. She feels truly inspired by her teachers: Rachel Brice, Mardi Love, Amy Sigil, Heather Stants, Anasma, Zoe Jakes, Kami Liddle, Jill Parker, Kajira Djoumahna and many more.Caro has performed across Costa Rica and Columbia, as well Tribal Massive (Las Vegas) and Tribal Fest (Sebastopol, CA). A dance teacher for nine years, Caro is the director of Dumanni’s Troupe and produces dance intensives in Costa Rica (Costa Rica Summer Intensive 2009-2010), and Colombia (Bogota Mini Intensive (2011-2012). She is currently launching her own clothing line, “Dumanni”.

About Heidi Hillman (Canada):

From her first performance of the Can-Can at age five, Heidi has developed a life-long passion for all forms of dance. She has been immersed in many dance forms including Jazz, Ballet, Modern dance & Bharatha Natyam. A few months ago I had a vision of creating events reminiscent of the by-gone era of the “Night Club”, where you can see a beautiful inspiring show , dance, play, meet new people, have interesting conversations, listen to wonderful live music, have loads of fun, and showcase some of the amazing talent we have right here in our community, a sort of a “Hafla/ Party/ Cabaret Night” !

In the pricelist you will find 3 options:

1) Separate Workshops – you pick up workshops you want, prices are higher
than for Day passes or Full Pass

2) Day Pass – at the bottom of the timetable you can find prices for all
workshops that will take place during one day, in both rooms. You can compose
them as you want, just write in your registration form which workshops you want
to pick up and in which room they take place (number of spots in ballet room is around 17)

Attention: Seperate workshops and Day passes must be fully prepaid by
money transfer before 14.02.2012 if you want to catch early bird prices. If you pay
later you also pay full amount but check prices with *.

3) Full Pass – the best prices! Full Pass includes all workshops of your choice
during 4 days. 3 show tickets, certification, possibility to perform during open stage

The wonderful Sadie will be in the UK 31 March – 1st April 2012 and I am thrilled to be hosting workshops and a show for her.
